I hope that everyone is enjoying this relatively warm day! I wanted to let everyone know that spelling tests are currently in the students' mailboxes, ready to be packed up for tomorrow, Wednesday, October 8th.
Most students have returned the permission slip and money for our first trip coming up (a performance at the Queens Theatre on Monday, November 24th.) The permission slip and money are due by next Wednesday, October 15th. If you do not want your child to attend, please send a note so that I know that you've looked at it.
So far, we have had about six parents express interest in being chaperones. For this trip, we can only take two chaperones. I will select chaperones via a lottery. I'll do my best to rotate chaperones so that those who are interested will get a chance to join the class on a trip. Being a chaperone is a lot of responsibility; I sincerely appreciate your offer and willingness to dedicate your time and energy to making sure the class stays safe!
The PTA is also sending home books for families that have paid dues. I don't know if it's for every child that has paid the dues, (since I know that some families also received Mets tickets in the past) but many students are getting a book from the PTA.
I also want to acknowledge that many students are getting to school on time, and some are getting to school early! It's fantastic! The students have so many responsibilities to take care of in the morning, it's great that they have the adequate amount of time to do so because they get to school on time. Especially on the cold weather days, or the days when the students want extra sleep, I understand that it can be tough getting them out of bed. I just wanted to let everyone know that I truly appreciate it! It's hard enough for me to get out of bed - I can't imagine having to get a 5/6 year old up, too!
Over the next few weeks, I will be sending notices home requesting to meet with a few parents one-on-one. Please keep an eye out for these notices and let me know if the time and date works for you.
Families, I sincerely appreciate that you're taking time to speak to the kids, talk to them, play with them, read with them, and take care of them. Together, we're making strong teams to get these first graders to where they need to be!
If you have any concerns, feel free to reach out to me!
Love,
Ms. Liang
