I noticed that most of the class has turned in their forms! Thank you so much for staying on top of these important notices. I'm hoping that everyone will turn in the consent form for photos so that I may start posting pictures of the students on the blog!
For tonight's, Wednesday's, reading log, students need to read the book and then retell the text to an adult. Encourage them to use time-order words: first, next, then, after that, etc.
Remember to write your initials in the last column!
Following today, you will notice that the reading log repeats. In other words, Monday and Thursday, Tuesday and Friday, and Wednesday and Saturday/Sunday, are the same responses. This will be the format for the reading log for the following few weeks.
-Take out their folder, lunch, water bottle, and papers that need to be handed in
-Hang their backpacks and jackets/sweaters
-Put their folder in their mailbox
-Put their lunch, water bottle, and umbrella in the appropriate place
-Hand in papers
-Return their take-home book
-Get a different take-home book
-Put their take-home book in their mailbox
It's a lot of steps to remember. Most of us have been doing a great job on it. Every day, we practice more and we're getting better at remembering everything we need to do.
Thank you for making sure that your child is being responsible at home as well! Most of the students completed the homework and kept it in their folders. From time to time, I look at the reading logs (before they're due on Monday) to make sure the students are completing them on a daily basis. In first grade, we are working to instill a love of reading in the students.
Enjoy the family time tonight as you read with your child! Happy reading!
Love,
Ms. Liang
