It's hard to believe that it is already September! This Thursday, NYC students and parents will be walking to school, with first day jitters, nerves and excitement - including those at our school. If it's any consolation, I will have first day jitters, nerves, and excitement, too!
Even though school hasn't started yet, Class 1-208 is already off to a bright start! Over the summer, I posted two projects on DonorsChoose.org. DonorsChoose.org is an incredible online 501 (c) 3 charity that allows public school teachers to post classroom project requests and people all over the globe to donate to these projects.
The first project, Let There Be Daylights, was funded within four (4!) days! Thanks to the kindness and generosity demonstrated by strangers and friends, our classroom will have five (5) floor lamps lit with daylight energy star bulbs to help light up our classroom with natural looking light, three (3) series of mini-lights to add charm to our classroom, and three (3) surge protectors to help power these bright lights.
The second project, Picture Books Teach Us 1000s of Lessons, will provide us with six (6) bins to store books and 34 picture books that illustrate individuality, creativity, and positive social skills. This project was funded with a week of posting! I'm so grateful to all of my generous friends and kind strangers who show that investing in education is a worthwhile investment.
Materials from summer projects are fulfilled when school is in session. While we won't have these on the first day, I will be super excited to show the students when they finally come in!
See you on Thursday, September 4th at 8:00 AM!
Love,
Ms. Liang
